Firdous Awan withdraws in favour of PTI candidate

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has withdrawn from NA-110 in favour of the PTI candidate contesting from the same constituency.

CEC casts his vote

Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim cast his vote earlier on Saturday.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Ebrahim urged citizens to go out and cast their vote. “When good people do not vote, bad people benefit,” Ebrahim told reporters.

The Chief Election Commissioner also thanked the media for the role it played; praising the role of Geo News which he said was “two steps ahead of everyone else.”

COAS casts his vote

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani cast his vote as Pakistan headed to the polls on May 11.

COAS General Kayani voted in the NA-54 constituency.

Chief Justice casts his vote

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry cast his vote on Saturday alongside his son.

After casting his vote, Chief Justice Chaudhry urged Pakistanis to leave their homes to vote.

The Chief Justice said that elections were proof the superiority of the constitution.

ECP takes notice of delay in polling

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken a serious note of the complaints received from several areas of the country regarding delay in the polling process.

The ECP has contacted the provincial election commissioners after receiving numerous complaints about delay in polling in several areas and sought explanation.

JI withdraws candidates from Karachi

The Jamaat-e-Islami alleging rigging has boycotted its election candidates from Karachi and from two constituencies in Hyderabad. During a news conference the party announced that it would be holding a peaceful strike in the city on Monday.
